Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called at the UN General Assembly for Israel's complete withdrawal from all Lebanese territory and the "release of Lebanese hostages." Aoun emphasized that since the ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah went into effect on November 27, 2024 – approved with U.S. and French support – Lebanon is committed to liberating all its lands and maintaining exclusive sovereignty. He called for an immediate end to "Israeli aggression" and UN assistance in rebuilding Lebanon following IDF operations, as well as ending the destruction in the Gaza Strip and addressing the unprecedented displacement crisis in his country.
