Lev Tahor sect members convicted of exploiting, abducting children

A court in New York convicted Yoil, Yakov and Shmiel Weingarten, three brothers from the ultra-Orthodox sect Lev Tahor, of exploiting and kidnapping children. The three men were convicted of kidnapping a 14-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother in 2018 from their home in the Catskill Mountains in New York to Guatemala, where the cult members live. The three are the last of nine suspects in the case who stood trial and were convicted. (Daniel Edelson, New York)
