Second Iranian missile launch in quick succession triggers fresh sirens in central Israel

New missile launch from Iran sets off fresh alerts across central Israel minutes after an earlier barrage, and explodes in open area; medics say no direct casualties reported, but four people hurt while seeking shelter or in traffic accidents during alerts

|Updated:
Air raid sirens sounded again across central Israel on Monday evening after a second missile launch from Iran in quick succession, sending residents back to shelters shortly after an earlier round of alerts.
The latest alarms were heard in central parts of the country, including the Tel Aviv area, after Iranian missile fire prompted a renewed air defense response. Emergency authorities said the second missile also exploded in an open area.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said no direct casualties from the strike were reported, but medical teams were dispatched to treat three people injured in two traffic accidents that occurred during the sirens — a 59-year-old woman in moderate condition and two others who were lightly hurt. MDA also said teams were treating a man who was injured on his way to a protected space.
The second launch came minutes after an earlier barrage triggered sirens in the Tel Aviv area, the Sharon region and parts of the West Bank. MDA said no injuries were reported in that earlier attack and that a missile fell in an open area.
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported sounds of explosions in Tehran and Karaj.
Earlier, sirens sounded in the Haifa Bay area in northern Israel and in the coastal city of Acre following rocket fire from Lebanon.

The barrage from Lebanon included several launches, some of which were intercepted, while the others fell in open areas. No injuries were reported.
Throughout the afternoon hours, sirens also sounded in Metula, Misgav Am, Safed and communities in the western Galilee and Upper Galilee, including Avivim, Yir’on, Bar’am, Admít and Arab al-Aramshe.
Authorities said one rocket fired earlier toward the bay area was intercepted, and another rocket launched toward Safed was also shot down. Alerts in the Upper Galilee were triggered by a suspected drone infiltration.
The alerts came hours after an earlier strike from Iran hit the Bazan oil refinery complex in Haifa Bay, causing damage to nearby homes in Haifa, the Krayot and Shfaram.
In Shfaram, a home was damaged, leaving a large gaping hole in the living room ceiling. Two children suffered shock but were not physically hurt.

Family members said they do not have a protected space nearby and were forced to remain in interior rooms. Amid Raad, a cousin of the homeowner, said the two children “huddled in corners” in different parts of the house, only a few meters from the point of impact. “It’s a miracle,” he said.
One person was also reported to be lightly wounded at another scene in the city.
Energy Minister Eli Cohen said there were no casualties at the Bazan site and that the strike did not hit production facilities or disrupt Israel’s fuel supply.

“I have just spoken with the company’s managers to express support for their work on behalf of the State of Israel," Cohen said. "We will continue to ensure a regular energy supply for the entire economy.”
In a filing to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, Bazan said the strike on its facility caused what it described as “non-material damage.” The company said the hit was limited to the roof of a distillates tank in Haifa Bay and caused no casualties. It added that all production facilities remained operational at the time of the filing.
