New York resident Tarek Bazrouk (20) was charged with antisemitic hate crimes after attacking Jews in three separate incidents during demonstrations in the city related to the Gaza war. According to the indictment filed today in a southern Manhattan court, Bazrouk committed these attacks between April 2024 and January of this year, with victims in each case identified as Jews participating in pro-Israel demonstrations - wearing kippot, carrying Israeli flags and singing Jewish songs. New York Federal Prosecutor Jay Clayton said that despite repeated arrests, Bazrouk quickly returned to violence against Jews. According to him, this represents a violation of fundamental rights and an attempt to instill fear in an entire community.
