Gazan responds to US pro-Palestinian protests: 'hurting the Palestinian cause'

Hamza Howidy, a Gazan who identifies as a Palestinian peace activist, criticized the pro-Palestinian demonstrations on campuses across the U.S., calling them harmful to the Palestinian cause. In a column published in the American magazine "Newsweek" he wrote: "You know what would help the Palestinians in Gaza? Condemning Hamas' atrocities." Hamza condemned the intimidation of Jews and Israelis across campuses and wrote, "These folks would be your partners if the protests were about achieving lasting peace and justice for Palestinians and Israelis."
