Colorado prosecutor: 'Attacker planned to use gun but couldn't purchase one'

Jay Bishop Grewal, Colorado's federal district prosecutor, said at a press conference about the attack that injured 12 people that the perpetrator Sabri Suleiman "planned to use a gun against the marchers, but because he wasn't a legal citizen, he couldn't purchase one - and ultimately decided to use improvised Molotov cocktails instead." Suleiman faces 27 charges, including attempted murder and hate crime, and if convicted on all counts, he could face 624 years in prison. Local police added that four more people with minor injuries sought medical attention independently, raising the number of victims from eight to 12.
