Pro-Palestinian demonstrators vandalized the home of New York Times editor-in-chief Joseph Kahn, who is Jewish, in Greenwich Village, Manhattan early this morning. The protesters smeared red paint on the steps of the building where he lives, on the walls, sidewalk and lighting fixtures at the entrance. They wrote with black marker on the sidewalk: "Joe Kahn lies, Gaza is dead." According to local police, this is part of a series of protests personally targeting Kahn since the beginning of the war in Gaza. The New York Times stated that "people are free to disagree with the newspaper's coverage, but vandalism and personal targeting of journalists and their families cross the line."
