Europe approves Israel's 2025 Eurovision song entry

European Broadcasting Union okays song selection without complaints, like those that dogged last year's entry; Song selections has stirred discontent among Israeli artists

The European Broadcasting Union on Monday approved Israel's 2025 Eurovision Song Contest entry, Israel's public broadcaster Kan announced.
The song, written by Israeli singer Keren Peles, was submitted for approval last week amid controversy over its selection by Kan, which led to allegations of conflicts of interest and lack of anonymity.

Despite this approval, Israeli songwriters continue to protest Peles’ song. Ynet reported on Sunday that they plan to issue an ultimatum to Kan — either restart the selection process or face a petition to the High Court of Justice. Kan dismissed the claims, saying they have yet to receive any formal letter.

The songwriters argue that Peles' selection process was flawed due to conflicts of interest and lack of anonymity. Peles, who performed the submitted song herself, is also a judge on Israel’s “The Next Star," the show that selected Israel's Eurovision representative. This year, Nova music festival survivor Yuval Raphael was chosen to represent Israel.
