‘Thank You God & Donald Trump’: Evangelical leader launches billboard campaign across Israel

Dr. Mike Evans, founder of the Friends of Zion center and a long-time evangelical supporter of Israel  said the campaign is intended to express gratitude for what he described as a historic moment in the Middle East during the ongoing conflict involving Israel, the United States and Iran

Large billboards thanking U.S. President Donald Trump have appeared along major highways and central intersections in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, part of a nationwide campaign launched by the Friends of Zion Heritage Center, an evangelical organization based in Jerusalem.
The campaign, which carries the message “Thank You God & Donald Trump!”, was initiated by Dr. Mike Evans, founder of the Friends of Zion center and a long-time evangelical supporter of Israel and ally of Trump.
Evans said the campaign is intended to express gratitude for what he described as a historic moment in the Middle East during the ongoing conflict involving Israel, the United States and Iran.

“This is nothing less than a Purim miracle,” Evans said in a statement. “The courage and leadership shown by President Trump, combined with the faith of millions who believe in God’s protection over Israel, are changing the course of history in the Middle East.”
The billboards feature a large image of Trump alongside the message of thanks and have been placed in high-traffic locations in major cities.

Evangelical support for Israel

Evans arrived in Israel on February 26, two days before the current round of fighting began, saying he wanted to show solidarity with Israelis and report back to the global evangelical community, which has become one of Israel’s strongest international support bases.
During his visit, Evans traveled across the country with a film crew, visiting sites hit by missiles, meeting soldiers and civilians affected by the war, and visiting hospitalized victims and bereaved families. His team also documented daily life in Israel during wartime.
After leaving Israel through Egypt, Evans traveled to Washington, D.C., where he said he plans to continue advocacy efforts in support of Israel.

Part of a series of campaigns

The new campaign follows a number of similar billboard initiatives organized by Evans and the Friends of Zion movement in recent years aimed at highlighting support for Israel and strengthening U.S.–Israel relations.

One previous campaign, titled “Cyrus the Great is Alive,” referenced the biblical Persian king who allowed Jews to return to Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile.
Evans has also maintained close ties with the Trump administration. In December 2017, shortly after the United States recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Evans presented Trump with the Friends of Zion Award at the White House. The award, commissioned by Israel’s ninth president Shimon Peres, has been given to dozens of world leaders recognized for supporting the Jewish people and the State of Israel.
Evangelical Christians, particularly in the United States, have long been among Israel’s most vocal supporters internationally, and their political influence has grown in recent years, especially during Trump’s presidency.
