Elon Musk vows AI-made ‘Odyssey’ after blasting Nolan film

World's richest man says Grok will produce a feature-length adaptation by year’s end, promising a version faithful to Homer after months of attacking Christopher Nolan’s casting choices

Elon Musk said Tuesday that his artificial intelligence platform would produce its own feature-length adaptation of Homer’s “Odyssey,” after months of criticizing Christopher Nolan’s film version of the ancient Greek epic.
In a post on X, the social media platform he owns, Musk shared a video generated with the Grok Imagine AI tool and said the platform would create a full-length “Odyssey” film by the end of the year.

Musk said the project would be “historically accurate and true to the art of Homer,” though Homer’s poem is rooted in Greek mythology rather than documented history. He provided no additional details about the production, including its budget, cast, release platform or creative team.
In a separate post, Musk endorsed a suggestion from an X user that director Mel Gibson be given a $100 million budget to make an adaptation featuring historically accurate ships, armor, weapons and casting. The proposal also called for all dialogue to be drawn directly from the original poem and spoken in Homeric Greek.
Musk’s announcement follows repeated criticism of Nolan’s adaptation, particularly over casting choices that Musk and other conservative commentators have portrayed as examples of Hollywood’s progressive politics.
In January, Musk said Nolan had “lost his integrity” in response to a post criticizing the casting of Lupita Nyong’o as Helen of Troy.

Musk also responded “true” to conservative commentator Matt Walsh’s claim that Nyong’o had been cast to shield the production from accusations of racism.
He later praised a post mocking transgender actor Elliot Page, who had been rumored at the time to be playing Achilles. Page instead appears in the film as Sinon, a Greek soldier associated in classical mythology with the Trojan Horse deception.

Despite criticism from Musk and other figures on the American right, Nolan’s “Odyssey” has been a major commercial success, earning $264 million worldwide in its opening weekend, according to the report.
The film also stars Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Samantha Morton and Zendaya and has received strong reviews from critics and audiences.
