Season 1 introduced Joanne (Kristen Bell), a Christian woman and popular podcast host on sex and relationships, who decides she needs a change in her love life. Noah (Adam Brody), a progressive rabbi, breaks up with his longtime girlfriend Rebecca after realizing she’s waiting for a proposal he isn’t ready to make. When Noah and Joanne meet at a party, sparks fly, and despite their religious differences, they give love a shot. Of course, if the story ended happily there, no one would have kept watching.

While Joanne and Noah are happy together, not everyone approves. Noah’s family still prefers his Jewish ex and pressures him to reunite, while Joanne’s sister and mother think the couple just isn’t a match. As their relationship deepens, they begin to think seriously about the future — and whether Joanne might convert to Judaism.

Where we left off

In the season finale, Joanne tells Noah she’s willing to convert — not out of spiritual awakening or a newfound connection to Judaism, but because she doesn’t want to lose him. As they explore what that really means, Joanne realizes she can’t go through with it if it’s not for herself. Noah, in turn, reveals the compromises he’s ready to make for their relationship. They choose to stay together, hopeful they can overcome what’s still ahead.

What’s next?

Season 2 dives into the reality after the “happy ending.” Joanne and Noah are in their honeymoon phase, but real-life challenges are looming. The couple must navigate merging their personal lives, families and friends, all while the clock ticks toward some inevitable decisions.

Who’s back and who’s new?

The full original cast returns for another round. Joining the ensemble this season are Leighton Meester — Adam Brody’s real-life wife — best known as Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl, who plays Joanne’s high school nemesis turned momfluencer. Arian Moayed (Succession) appears as the charming Dr. Andy, a potential match for Joanne’s sister Morgan. Also joining are Alex Karpovsky (Girls) as an overly competitive rabbi in Noah’s synagogue and Seth Rogen (The Studio) in a guest role as Rabbi Neil.
