After more than six months of a high-profile relationship, social media influencer Danielle Amit and freed hostage Emily Damari are engaged, it was revealed Thursday evening.
The couple celebrated the one-year anniversary of Damari’s release from captivity; during the celebration Damari got down on one knee and proposed to Amit — who happily accepted.
Back in June, during the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, the two surprised the country by announcing their relationship. “I didn’t want paparazzi, and I didn’t want rumors starting,” Amit wrote in an Instagram Story at the time. “I wanted it to come from me to you, the way I want to present it and share it.”
“I’ve been going to bed with a smile for a while now,” she continued. “I’ve been dying to tell you what’s happening in my life because you’re such a big part of it. You wake up with me, go to sleep with me, eat with me, laugh and cry with me. And you’re probably wondering, ‘Wait, what’s going on here?’ Right now, I can’t quite put it into words, and what a mess it is to drop a bomb like this and want to disappear. But very soon, I’ll be back to tell the full story.”
In a July interview with Pplus, Amit addressed her new relationship, saying: “I’m not a lesbian. If I were, I’d be shouting it to the world. Here I am, just a few months with Emily, and I’m already shouting it — but I really fell in love with her.”
