Israelis are facing soaring temperatures Sunday, the final day of summer vacation, with highs concentrated in southern and inland areas, authorities said. Eilat could reach 39°C (102°F), while the Dead Sea, Jordan Valley and southern Negev will experience severe heat. Coastal and central areas will be slightly cooler with partly cloudy to clear skies. Wave heights along the coast are expected between 30 and 80 centimeters (12–31 inches).
Beaches across the country have drawn crowds seeking relief from the intense heatwave.
