Winter storm Barbara on Tuesday entered its second day, painting parts of Israel white. Snowfall was reported in the north as well as mountainous regions in the center of the country, on what looks to be the coldest dat of this winter season.
Periodic showers can felt from the north all the way to the Negev desert in the south, with much precipitation still expected throughout the day.
Winds, which peaked at 62mph in northern Israel, should subside later on in the day.
Heavy snowfall was recorded on Mount Hermon and the northern part of the Golan Heights. Snowfall also hit the area of Gush Etzion, a cluster of Israeli settlements located in the Judaean Mountains.
Meanwhile, Tel Aviv Port was experiencing major flooding from the persistent showers.
Wednesday will be cold and rainy, but the storm will weaken throughout the day. By Thursday, the storm will be largely gone, but low temperatures will continue and some rainfall is expected is some parts of the country. The weekend, however, is expected to be entirely rain-free.
The last 24 hours has seen much damage to structures around the country, and several injuries were reported. An 11-year-old child was severely injured from a collapsed Eucalyptus tree in Tel Mond.our people were injured in the Galilee when a tree collapsed on the top of the car they were in.
Among other incidents that were reported were steel plates that fell on the ground from the top of business towers in central Israel, and traffic lights that collapsed in the city.
