Milwaukee Bucks forward Kyle Kuzma weighed in on a massive pro-Palestinian rally held overnight in New Mexico, pushing back on the message coming from demonstrators who chanted “Free Palestine.”
In a post on X, Kuzma argued that calls for Palestinian freedom should also explicitly address Hamas and Iranian-backed terrorism.
“If you believe Palestinians deserve freedom, say it clearly. freedom from Hamas too. Freedom from Iranian-backed terror. Freedom from leaders who use civilians as shields. Compassion cannot be selective…” he wrote.
The post came as anti-Israel demonstrations continue in cities around the world, with tens of thousands taking part in the New Mexico rally.
Kuzma, a power forward for Milwaukee, has spoken publicly in support of Israel before. Two days after the Oct. 7 Hamas attack, when he was still playing for the Washington Wizards alongside Israeli forward Deni Avdija, he posted about graphic footage he said had been sent to him from Israel.
“I got sent a video of terrorists cheering around the body of a soldier, a kid who defended his country,” Kuzma wrote at the time. “People are hiding in homes while terrorists shoot at them. Israel is under attack. Just terrible things are happening in Israel right now. My prayers are with them.”
His latest comments once again placed him among the relatively small number of prominent NBA players willing to speak publicly about the Israel-Hamas war and the political debate surrounding it.
