GTA 6 launch trailer is here: Rockstar reveals new footage ahead of November 19 release

Rockstar Games offers a fresh look at Vice City, the criminal couple at the heart of the story and the game's striking PS5 visuals; the 90-second trailer also introduces new music ahead of the long-awaited release, more than 13 years after GTA 5

The countdown has officially begun. Rockstar Games released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) on Thursday, October 15, offering another look at one of the most eagerly anticipated video games in years. Arriving just over a month before the scheduled November 19 release, the trailer showcases the game's sprawling open world, its two central characters and the criminal underworld awaiting players.
The roughly 90-second video takes viewers back to Vice City, Rockstar's fictional version of Miami, and the surrounding state of Leonida. Sun-drenched streets, luxury cars and tropical beaches provide the backdrop for high-speed pursuits, gunfights and cinematic action sequences that have helped make the Grand Theft Auto franchise one of gaming's biggest successes.
At the center of the story are Jason and Lucia, a criminal couple caught up in a sprawling conspiracy after a seemingly straightforward robbery goes wrong. Forced to rely on each other to survive, the pair navigate a dangerous world where almost anything can go wrong. The new trailer offers additional insight into Jason's background, revealing that he got into trouble during his military service and left the armed forces under difficult circumstances, complicating his efforts to adjust to civilian life.
Beyond the action, the footage emphasizes the relationship between the two protagonists, which will play a central role in the story. Unlike GTA 5, which allowed players to switch between three main characters, the new installment focuses on the criminal duo and their complicated relationship.
Another notable detail is the game's visual quality. According to Rockstar, all footage in the trailer was captured directly from the game running on a PlayStation 5. The company did not specify whether it used the standard console or the more powerful PS5 Pro. Either way, the trailer provides another glimpse of the graphical detail promised in the highly anticipated sequel.
Music also takes center stage. Rockstar selected "Flower in a Hurricane," a new track by French electronic duo Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Justice is also composing the game's original score, while the new song will appear on the official soundtrack album.
Despite the excitement, the trailer does not introduce major new gameplay mechanics or reveal much about activities available in the open world. Players seeking a more detailed look at the gameplay can turn to the nearly 27-minute presentation Rockstar released in August.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, more than 13 years after GTA 5 debuted in 2013. No official PC release date has been announced, although recent reports suggest the computer version could arrive as early as 2027.
After two delays, countless rumors and leaks, including a major breach in which a hacker released footage from the game, the long wait appears to be nearing its end. GTA 6 is already available for preorder, and players who purchase a digital edition will be able to begin downloading it on November 12, one week before its official release.
