Bank Leumi said Thursday it has begun rolling out versions of its banking app in five languages: Hebrew, English, Arabic, Russian and French.
The new language options are being introduced gradually and are intended to allow customers to carry out most routine banking activity without switching to Hebrew.
Users will be able to choose their preferred language inside the app and access current-account and foreign-currency information, order credit cards and checkbooks, transfer money in different currencies, make immediate RTGS transfers, exchange currencies, open deposits and apply for loans.
Leumi said additional services will be added to the non-Hebrew versions over time.
The bank’s Hebrew-language app already supports most routine banking operations digitally, including scheduling video meetings with bankers and completing parts of the mortgage process online.
The multilingual rollout comes as Israeli banks increasingly shift customer service away from branches and toward digital channels, while trying to make those services accessible to customers who are more comfortable using languages other than Hebrew.
Leumi has also expanded the operating hours of its customer service centers and introduced internal service targets for resolving customer requests.
Eyal Efrat, head of Leumi’s Banking Division, said the language expansion was aimed at making digital banking more accessible to customers.
“Advanced banking must also be accessible, personal and simple,” he said. “We are proud to provide hundreds of thousands of customers with the ability to manage their financial needs in the language most comfortable for them, anytime and anywhere.”
