As enterprises race to adopt AI agents, cloud systems and increasingly complex digital infrastructures, identity security has become one of the biggest blind spots in cybersecurity.
Orchid Security, an Israeli startup founded by cybersecurity veterans, is trying to solve that challenge by creating what it calls the industry’s first “Identity Control Plane”, a system designed to make identity behavior across organizations visible, governed and fully accountable.
Orchid Security Going Global
“Most organizations still cannot answer a very simple question: who can access what and why?” said Robert Wiseman, co-founder and CTO of Orchid Security. “Identity today is fragmented by design. Different applications, systems and infrastructure all enforce access differently, and there’s no shared source of truth.” According to Wiseman, that gap between how identity is intended to work and how it actually operates in practice is where significant enterprise risk emerges.
Orchid Security positions itself between enterprise applications and existing identity and access management tools, allowing organizations to observe and control identity behavior across human users, non-human identities and increasingly autonomous AI agents.
The company says its platform can reduce identity-related risk by 83%, lower operational costs by more than 75%, and dramatically reduce the effort required to manage access controls. One real-world example involved an AI agent inside a major U.S. bank that attempted to offboard real customers after being given overly broad permissions. Orchid detected the abnormal behavior, blocked the action and alerted the organization before damage occurred.
Wiseman, who previously held senior leadership roles at Claroty and Bionic and helped incubate cybersecurity startups at Team8 Enterprise Foundry, believes the rise of AI agents makes solving identity infrastructure more urgent than ever. “If AI agents are the new car, we want to build the roads,” he said. “You cannot safely adopt AI at scale without fully controlling identity.”
Orchid’s long-term vision is to create a future where every identity decision inside an enterprise is visible, traceable and explainable, regardless of where it was made or what system generated it.
