The Lufthansa Group announced it was extending its cancellation of all flights to and from Ben Gurion Airport through September 24, citing escalating regional tensions. The German aviation group resumed flights to and from Israel this month. Flights to Beirut were also canceled.
The affected airlines within the group include Lufthansa Airlines, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings. Lufthansa is also offering passengers impacted by the cancellations the option to cancel their tickets at no cost or rebook their flights.
The group made the move amid rising tensions between Israel and the Iran-backed group in Lebanon after coordinated explosions in Hezbollah's communication devices killed dozens and wounded thousands.
American carrier Delta Airlines said its would not resume its flights to and from Israel before December 31 because of security concerns adding that the safety of passengers and crew must be considered above all else and that travelers must be prepared to make whatever possible adjustments to their travel plans.
