Pearl Berg, the ninth oldest person in the world, died in Los Angeles at the age of 114. Berg, who was also the world's oldest Jewish person and the third oldest American, died at her home on Thursday, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Berg was born in Evansville, Indiana and raised in Pittsburg, but moved to Los Angeles after the Depression, due to its negative effect on her father's career in the automobile business.
She met her husband, Ukrainian immigrant Mark Berg, in LA and the couple was married in in 1931; they were married for 58 years when her husband died in 1989.
She was an officer and president of the Nordea Chapter of Hadassah, and was a member of the Sisterhood of Temple Israel of Hollywood, and she was a member of the temple for 85 years.
She is survived by two children, Dr. Alan Paul Berg and Robert Joel Berg, and a grandchild, Belinda Berg.
