The data also shows that in Hebrew education, which does not include the ultra-Orthodox, the number of students is expected to reach about 2,254,000 in 2060 – about 1,132,000 more students than in 2023 and a total increase of 100.8%. In ultra-Orthodox education, the number of students is expected to reach approximately 1,342,000 in 2060, adding approximately 955,000 students compared to 2023, an increase of 246.2%.
In Arab schools, the number of students is expected to reach about 610,000 in 2060, which is an addition of about 161,000 students - and an increase of 35.7% compared to the current year.
The CBS data shows that during the years 2023-2060 the number of students in kindergartens in the state-Hebrew education system is expected to increase to about 398,000 thousand in 2060. This is an increase of about 199,000 students compared to the year 2023 – an increase of about 100.5%. In state-religious education, the number of students is expected to grow to about 186,000 – 92,000 students more than the current year, which is an increase of about 98.2%.
In ultra-Orthodox education, the number of students is expected to increase to approximately 259,000 in 2060, and will be approximately 129,000 more students than in 2023. This is an increase of 98.4%. In the Arab state education system, the number of students is expected to increase to about 145,000, which is an increase of about 30,000 students compared to the current year – an increase of 25.5%.
With the increase in the number of students, an increase in the number of teachers is also expected. Following the forecast of the increase in the number of students, by the year 2060 a demand of about 437,000 teachers is expected, which means an increase of about 234,000 teachers compared to the year 2023 – an increase of 115.6%. Basically, there will be a need for more than twice as many teachers as there are today.
In Hebrew education, a demand of about 376,000 teachers is expected, which is about 218 thousand more teachers than there are in 2023. This is an increase of 138.2%. In Arab education, on the other hand, a demand of about 61 thousand teachers is expected. This is an addition of about 16 thousand teachers compared to the current year - a total increase of 35.7%.
And what about kindergarteners? According to the CBS student forecast, by the year 2060 there is expected to be about 37,000 kindergarteners – an increase of about 17,000 kindergarteners compared to 2023. This is an increase of 85.2%. In Hebrew education, a demand for about 33,000 kindergarteners is expected. Their numbers will be about 16,000 more than the number of kindergarteners in Hebrew education in 2023, an increase of 97.8%. In Arab education, on the other hand, some 4,000 kindergarteners is expected – about a thousand kindergarteners compared to 2023, which is an increase of 23.8%
