From Bethlehem, Jericho and Ramallah. Three Israelis, including an armed man and a person suffering from mental illness, were rescued Sunday from areas under the Palestinian Authority. All three cases were transferred to the Judea and Samaria District Police for further handling.
Footage shows armed Israeli entering PA territory
Earlier Sunday, the Civil Administration received a report of an armed Israeli spotted near the village of Ein Arik, near Ramallah. Officers from the Benjamin District Coordination and Liaison Administration worked to secure his rescue through coordination channels and he was handed over to an IDF force.
Footage from the scene shows the Israeli being detained in his vehicle, apparently by Palestinian security forces, who detained him and called out to him: "Palestinian police." The Israeli responded: "OK, I understand you're Palestinian police."
Another case involved an Israeli woman who was spotted walking around the city of Jericho in the Jordan Valley. Officers from the Jordan Valley Coordination and Liaison Administration worked to rescue her quickly. An initial inquiry found that she had deliberately entered the Palestinian city.
The third case also occurred in Bethlehem, where an Israeli man suffering from mental illness was spotted walking the city's streets. Local residents passed the information to security officials and he was quickly handed over to the IDF.
All three cases were transferred to the Judea and Samaria District Police for further handling. Security officials stressed that entering Area A, parts of the West Bank that are under Palestinian Authority civil and security control, is life-threatening and prohibited by law.
