Shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump’s historic address to the Knesset on Monday, Israeli singer and reservist Idan Amedi launched a fierce criticism of lawmakers for what he described as an inappropriate celebratory mood during the session.
In an Instagram story, Amedi—who was wounded while serving in reserve duty during the war—wrote: “I’m glad everyone’s laughing in the Knesset, but don’t forget—you made a commitment to all the hostages. Forty-eight. We’re here to remind you and to promise that none of you will be forgiven if you don’t bring all the fallen back to the land of Israel.”
He continued, “And one more thing: all those smiles are possible thanks to 915 heroes who gave their lives for this nation. They, along with thousands of wounded in body and soul, are the reason you can smile today.”
Amedi concluded his message by addressing his fallen comrades by name: “Alexei, Akiva, Gavri, and Yeger, I miss you. Thank you for not stopping, thank you for your true leadership. Be our advocates up there—we need it. Happy holiday.”
Trump’s visit to Israel comes as 20 living hostages have been released from Hamas captivity. However, officials announced that of the remaining bodies held in Gaza, only four are expected to be returned today. The Hostages’ Families Forum called the move “a blatant violation of the agreement.”
