There’s no shortage of ice cream flavors in the world, from classic chocolate and vanilla to olive oil and even za’atar. But the latest release is one most people probably haven’t tasted since infancy.
Frida, a U.S. brand specializing in products for parents, has teamed up with New York–based small-batch ice cream maker OddFellows to create a breast milk–flavored ice cream.
Launched earlier this year, it’s now available for online purchase. The company promoted it heavily on social media, sparking the internet’s predictable frenzy—much of it centered on what, exactly, goes into the mix.
“Try it yourself,” the ad teases. But no—there’s no actual human breast milk in the product. The flavor is only meant to mimic it. The ingredient list includes cream, sugar, salted caramel flavoring, honey syrup, and bovine colostrum—the nutrient-rich milk produced by cows in the first days after giving birth.
So, what does it taste like?
According to Frida, the ice cream is “sweet, slightly salty, smooth, with hints of honey and splashes of colostrum, and a distinctive yellow hue from the colostrum.” TikTok users say it’s surprisingly good, even if it’s hard to compare to the real thing. “I haven’t tasted breast milk in 38 years, but the ice cream is creamy, a little salty—and it’s tasty,” one reviewer said.

The price is $12.99 per pint, with a minimum purchase of two pints online, making it far from a bargain dessert. In the U.S., the buzz isn’t just about the flavor but the marketing. The campaign has earned attention across social media, headlines, and even a mention on “Saturday Night Live.”
The strategy appears to be working: at the time of writing, the online store is sold out. Frida, which focuses on baby and parenting products, clearly knew the topic would get people talking. Celebrity moments—like Kourtney Kardashian’s viral experiment tasting her own breast milk—have shown the public’s curiosity. As the company put it, “The widespread love for breast milk is what inspired the flavor.”
