Professor who became symbol of Jewish struggle at Columbia is leaving

Hours after announcing he was cleared in a university investigation, Ynet has learned that Prof. Shai Davidai is leaving the university that had previously barred him from campus

Prof. Shai Davidai—one of the most prominent pro-Israel voices on Columbia University's campus—has left the university, according to an internal email from Prof. Costis Maglaras, dean of the Business School, obtained by Ynet Wednesday evening.
Neither Davidai nor the university has commented or provided details on the agreement that led to his departure. Davidai became a controversial figure at Columbia after the October 7 Hamas massacre, when he publicly criticized the administration for its perceived inaction toward pro-Palestinian protests on campus.

He posted videos on social media featuring pro-Palestinian activists and accused them of antisemitism. Last year, Columbia barred him from campus following an internal investigation that found he had “repeatedly harassed and intimidated staff.”
On Wednesday morning, Davidai posted on X that the university’s investigation had concluded and stated that he had been cleared of all allegations. Davidai does not have tenure at the university.
