Palo Alto Networks launches Idira to secure AI and enterprise identities

Company says platform adds just-in-time access controls, AI-driven risk detection and expanded protections for machine identities, with some features requiring extra licenses

Palo Alto Networks has launched Idira, a new identity security platform designed to help companies manage and secure human, machine and AI agent identities across enterprise systems.
The company said the platform expands privileged access management capabilities, including for existing CyberArk customers, and is intended to reduce reliance on standing privileges by applying just-in-time access controls.

Palo Alto Networks said Idira uses AI to identify identity risks, monitor entitlements and access paths, enforce dynamic privilege controls and automate governance across the identity lifecycle.
The launch comes as companies face growing identity security risks tied to the use of AI tools and machine identities, which the company said increasingly outnumber human users inside enterprises.
“Identity has become the new battleground of the AI enterprise,” said Peretz Regev, chief product and technology officer for Idira at Palo Alto Networks. “With adversaries now logging in rather than breaking in, every identity has become a target.”

The company said Idira is generally available, with additional capabilities expected later this year. Existing CyberArk SaaS customers will be able to access some upgrades automatically, while other capabilities, including protections for machine and AI identities, may require additional licenses.
Palo Alto Networks, traded on Nasdaq under the ticker PANW, provides cybersecurity products across network, cloud, security operations, AI and identity security.
