United Airlines announced Wednesday to the Israel Airports Authority that it plans to resume flights to Israel starting from March 3.

United, like most airlines worldwide, suspended flights to Israel shortly after the outbreak of the war in Gaza, and it will be the first American carrier to return to Ben Gurion Airport, initially with a direct route to New York's Liberty International Airport.
Currently, Israeli flag carrier El Al is the only airline operating direct flights from Israel to the United States, and the return of an American carrier to Ben Gurion Airport is expected to, albeit slightly, lower the cost of flights to the destination.
United Airlines has not yet issued an official announcement regarding its return.
Meanwhile, Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, which continued to fly to Israel throughout the entire war, has announced that they will resume operating the route between Tel Aviv and Abu Dhabi with a daily flight, starting in May.
In addition, Dutch airline KLM plans to resume its flights between Amsterdam and Tel Aviv starting from April 1 until May 19, 2024, with a daily flight using a Boeing 737-900 aircraft. The flights to Israel will include a layover in Larnaca, where crew members who are unwilling to travel to Israel will be replaced.
